Temporarily breaking away from the long-winded rant tradition of this blog, I have but a quick post tonight:
If you only see one movie this year, please let it be Sam Mendes' Away We Go. I can't remember the last film I watched where I was so impressed with the writing. I guess that's what happens when you hire a real author like Dave Eggers to write your film. Actually he co-wrote this charming story of young couple looking for their place in the world, with his wife Vendela Vida, which is probably why the writing is so goddamn true to life. I had almost given up believing that anything this smart could come out of Hollywood. It is a rare occasion when I'm pleasantly surprised by the very same industry that brought us such abysmal tragedies as Howard the Duck, Glitter and Freddy Got Fingered........
